Role Overview
The UX Design Director is the visionary leader for user experience and product design across all Longhorn Developers (LHD) projects. This director is responsible for establishing a strong design culture, ensuring that all LHD projects are intuitive, accessible, and effectively solve the problems of UT Austin students. The director champions a user-centered design process, from initial research to final visual polish. They lead the design teams with UX Design Leads, setting the standards for quality and mentoring members to grow their skills in UI/UX and information design.
A crucial aspect of the UX Design Director role is the level of autonomy and leadership expected. They will proactively pursue their own initiatives to advance LHD's mission, introduce innovative ideas, and improve current processes based on their design expertise. This includes identifying opportunities for enhancement in areas not explicitly mentioned in this position document. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can operate independently while maintaining alignment with organizational objectives.
